Illinois Lottery: More Than $9 Million in Unclaimed Prizes
Nine Illinois Lottery prizes of $100,000 or more are still waiting to be claimed, totaling more than $9 million. The largest is a $7,400,002 Lotto prize from an October 2026 drawing, purchased in Chicago.
The Illinois Lottery publishes the full list of unclaimed jackpot and daily-game prizes and reminds players to check old tickets before they expire. Draw-game prizes must be claimed within one year of the drawing date.

How to Claim an Illinois Lottery Prize
Sign the back of a winning retail ticket immediately, keep it in a safe place and use only one claim method. Claim procedures depend on the prize amount and whether the ticket was bought online or in person. Full instructions are available on the Lottery’s “When You Win” page.
| Prize amount | Claim options |
|---|---|
| $600 or less | Most retailers may pay it if funds are available; otherwise use a Claim Center, mail claim or e-Claim |
| Over $600 to $10,000 | Claim Center by appointment, mail claim or e-Claim |
| Over $10,000 to $1 million | Claim Center by appointment or mail claim |
| $1 million or more | Call the Illinois Lottery Claims Department immediately |
For a Claim Center appointment, bring the signed ticket, completed claim form, photo identification and proof of a Social Security number. Walk-ins are not accepted. You can find locations and appointment details through the Illinois Lottery Claim Centers page.
Claim Deadlines and Online Wins
Mega Millions, Powerball, Lotto, Lucky Day Lotto, Pick 3, Pick 4 and Fast Play prizes must be claimed within one year after the drawing. Instant-ticket prizes generally expire one year after the game’s announced end date. The winner’s handbook explains the rules in more detail.
Online winnings of $600 or less are automatically added to an Illinois Lottery account, unless the balance would exceed $2,000; the excess is sent by check. Online winnings above $600 must be processed through a Claim Center or by mail. Players can submit eligible claims through the Illinois Lottery e-Claim portal.
