When it comes to large gatherings, turkey is one of the most popular types of poultry for family gatherings and holidays. While you may have already heard about the chicken class-action lawsuit resulting from the Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation, you may not know that there is also a separate turkey class-action lawsuit as well.

In 2021, the law offices of Hagens Berman and Lockridge Grindal Nauen reached a settlement agreement resulting from the Wholesale Grocery Cooperative's turkey antitrust litigation. The litigation alleges that major turkey companies, subsidiaries, and processors conspired to limit the turkey supply to artificially raise prices. Which Turkey Companies are Involved in This Lawsuit?


According to court filings, the settlement involves the following turkey meat companies:

  • Tyson Foods

  • Tyson Fresh Meats

  • Tyson Prepared Foods

  • Hillshire Brands Corporation


In addition, there are several other companies named in the lawsuit who have not yet settled the complaint.

What Turkey Purchases are Eligible for This Lawsuit?


Customers who purchased any turkey product from one of the named turkey producers in the United States can participate in the lawsuit. The lawsuit directly references purchases made from January 2020 through January 2017.

Eligible turkey meat purchases include (but are not limited to) the following products:

  • Whole turkey

  • Turkey drums

  • Turkey breasts

  • Tenderloins

  • Turkey thighs

  • Turkey meat tails

  • Gizzards

  • Mechanically separated turkey

  • Ground turkey

  • Packaged lunch meat

  • Turkey deli meat

  • Breakfast turkey sausage

  • Turkey franks or links

  • Turkey hot dogs

  • Turkey bacon

  • Turkey corn dogs



What Information Do I Need for This Turkey Class-Action Lawsuit?


According to case details, any consumer who purchased turkey from January 2020 to January 2017 can participate in the lawsuit. Although the companies listed have already agreed to the terms, the court has scheduled a final hearing for January 6, 2022.

Fortunately, participants do not need proof of purchase to participant in the settlement.
